2004 Season - Week 3
Daz forget’s the bye week
With Buffalo, Carolina, New England and The Jets off on the first bye week of the season Daz had 3 players missing from his line-up, Patriot WR David Givens, his kicker John Kasay and coach Jon Fox, both from the Panthers. It didn’t matter as he needed only three players to put up the highest score of the season so far. Donovan McNabb ran for 1 score and threw 2 TD strikes, Shaun Alexander ran for 2 scores and caught 1 while Javon Walker caught 3 TD bomb’s from Brett Favre leaving Daz 2 points short of a Hall of Fame week.
More Injuries
Week 3 became Quarterback knockdown but only one starter plays on a BUMS roster. Paul’s Titan QB Steve McNair will spend a second night in hospital with a bruised sternum after being knocked out of Jacksonville’s improbable win on Sunday. Oakland’s Rich Gannon has a broken vertebrae in his neck and will miss at least 6 weeks. Chicago’s Rex Grossman is out for the season after rupturing a ligament in his right knee. Also probably out for the year is Buccaneer RB Charlie Garner after tearing his patella tendon.
The Great Dane
Morten Anderson broke George Blanda's NFL record for career games played when he made his 341st appearance. He has kicked for New Orleans, Atlanta, the New York Giants, Kansas City and now the Minnesota Vikings in his 23-year career.
More Streak News
A week after Jerry Rice was held without a reception, another remarkable streak ended in Seattle: The San Francisco 49ers were shut out for the first time since Oct 9th 1977 - a span of 420 regular-season and 36 playoff games. Also Tennessee's RB Chris Brown became the second player since 1970 to rush for at least 100 yards in each of his first three NFL starts.
